Time to Recharge Your Cyber Security Strategy

Time to Recharge Your Cyber Security Strategy

Keeping your organization’s IT systems safe and secure has never been more difficult. Companies are under increased threats from a variety of cyber threats. And they’re facing staffing challenges and increasingly complex IT environments. Some 80% of companies recently surveyed by Forrester Consulting are partnering with  Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) to deal with the growing threat landscape. Forrester Consulting surveyed more than 100 IT security decision-makers who either work with MSSPs or are considering it. The survey, commissioned by Masergy, found that:

  • 65% of those organizations are using MSSPs
  • 50% are using MSSPs for 24x7 monitoring services
  • 40% are considering MSSPs for advanced threat detection and intelligence

Filling the Gap

MSSPs are increasingly popular with cyber security teams because they fill in organizational gaps and free up resources. IT managers who work with MSSPs find it faster and less costly than hiring additional security staff. Further, the Forrester Consulting survey found that organizations working with MSSPs experienced improved operational workflows and faster escalations in response to detected threats. MSSPs not only find more security issues but they also help the organization deal with those issues better. In the survey, more than 55% of respondents working with MSSPs said their relationships give them better understandings of what to do next. Slightly more than half also said working with MSSPs improves their accuracy, while more than 40% of those working with MSSPs said they get faster escalations when issues are discovered. There are business benefits, too. By working with MSSPs, many organizations find they do a better job of achieving their business objectives and attaining a competitive advantage including:
  • Improved regulatory compliance
  • Better market differentiation
  • Enhanced customer experience
  • Increased ability to innovate

Customized Protection

There are still more benefits to working with an MSSP. This kind of partnership can also help your organization address the issue of security scale. That includes the growth of threats, the volume of alerts, and the timeliness of response and remediation. The right MSSP can also help you improve your customer relationships. By freeing you from the deafening volume of alerts from security point solutions, MSSPs allow you to focus on your customers and deservedly earn their trust. But don’t work with just anyone. Make sure your MSSP has the ability to customize their solutions to fit your unique environment. That’s far more effective that implementing a one-size-fits-all solution.
