PCI Data Security Standard
The PCI Data Security Standard (DSS) was developed by the founding payment brands of the PCI Security Standards Council (American Express®, Discover® Financial Services, JCB®, MasterCard® Worldwide, and Visa® International) to help facilitate the broad adoption of consistent data security measures on a global basis. Its primary goal is to provide a standard by which the Payment Card Industry can self-regulate. In addition, a number of initiatives are currently underway from state legislatures and federal regulators to increase the penalties for non-compliant organizations. So now more than ever, compliance matters.
