Dallas, Texas, January 7, 2008 – Global DataGuard, the premier provider of Enterprise Unified Threat Management for small and medium business to large enterprise environments today announced that it has been granted a patent under the European Patent Convention (EPC) for its adaptive behavioral intrusion detection. This adaptive behavioral capability is the cornerstone for Global DataGuard’s technologically advanced family of Enterprise UTM security products for LME, SME and SMB markets.
The European Patent Office (EPO), which is the patent-granting authority for Europe, accepts applications under the EPC and sets the benchmark for innovation and best patent practice across Europe. An executive arm of the European Patent Organisation, the EPO strives to set patent protection standards and provide a uniform application process for companies seeking patent protection in up to 37 European countries.
“This patent is further proof of our continual pioneering efforts in architecturally-based behavioral analysis technology,” stated Dean A. Trumbull, vice president and chief operating officer for Global DataGuard. “It’s the foundation upon which our Enterprise UTM++ security suite and All-n-One Security Module is built, and it enables us to provide our customers with unparalleled adaptive and fully integrated network security to cost-effectively meet their unique business requirements.”
As part of the company’s worldwide channels strategy, Global DataGuard is filing its patent certificate in individual countries across Europe, including in the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany and Italy. In addition, the company plans to expand its Affiliate Partner Program over time to include channel partners within these countries.
Innovative Technology for Global Network Security Needs
An industry first, Global DataGuard’s Enterprise UTM product family utilizes patented behavioral analysis and correlation technology to enable intelligent, adaptive information sharing and correlation of detected threats and alerts with detected vulnerabilities between all security applications and appliances. This technological leap-forward provides organizations with actionable, root-cause information and long-term context to threats, enabling IT departments to obtain early warnings of threats that other products cannot see.
Because all of Global DataGuard’s Enterprise UTM security applications are integrated at the architectural level, organizations realize far better performance and service at a substantially reduced cost of ownership. No other security solution today can more effectively predict, prevent and block threats because no other security product combines these unique features:
- Use of raw packet data, providing more data for analysis;
- Analysis and continued correlation of packet data, IDS/IPS alerts, scans, logs, vendor threats and resources that can be tracked over longer periods of time – rolling 14-30 days for raw packet data; up to six months for alerts; and up to two years for behavioral profiles;
- A learned intelligence capability that can predict behaviors and track developing threats before they harm critical systems; and
- The ability to adapt and customize itself to the unique requirements of the network over time – without human intervention.
The company’s Enterprise UTM product family also provides for industry compliance with PCI, SOX, HIPAA and NERC CIP standards. From auditing to technology, process and policy, Global DataGuard takes a holistic approach to compliance, ensuring that customers can efficiently achieve and maintain ongoing regulatory compliance within each unique vertical market.
