What is a Softphone?
A softphone (software telephone) is an application program that enables voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone calls from desktop computer or a mobile device over the IP network. In the enterprise, softphones are sometimes referred to as soft clients. Masergy Communicator is an example of a soft client. Masergy Communicator provides end-users with a Unified Communications (UC) experience across mainstream mobile (tablets and mobile phones) and computer platforms (PCs and laptops) including Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.
