Masergy Cloud Communications users can set their status as unavailable across all their UC devices using our Do Not Disturb (DND) feature. Want to minimize telephone call interruptions while working on a business project? With DND enabled, calls will not ring on your desk phone and are sent directly to voicemail. If you’ve recorded the busy greeting, then that greeting will play for callers. When a user activates the DND service, all calls to the user are processed as if the user is busy and cannot receive calls. Other terminating services trigger on the busy condition.
When active, the DND service provides a visual reminder to the user via an icon on Polycom VVX devices. When a call is blocked or deflected as a result of DND, the phone plays a ring splash as a reminder that the service is enabled. The default state of DND is “Off”.
Enabling Do Not Disturb (DND) on your desk phone
For phones with a hard button labeled Do Not Disturb, press it once to enable DND. On phones without the hard button:
Important: If you have shared call appearance you cannot use the DND phone feature.
Users have more control options for DND (e.g. selecting whether a ring splash is applied when a call is blocked or deflected by the service) using the personal web portal. To enable/disable DND from the web portal:
Login using your Masergy Cloud Communications user ID and password
To get reminders that are in DND, check the box for “Play Ring Reminder when a call is blocked” and then click OK.
The user can activate and deactivate the Do Not Disturb (DND) service on their phone by dialing *78 to activate or *77 to deactivate. The system then plays a confirmation announcement and the user hangs up. Feature access codes can also be used from the call control client. For example, the user can enter *78 to activate Do Not Disturb. The system then rings the user’s device and plays a confirmation announcement indicating that Do Not Disturb has been activated.
Enabling DND via the Masergy Unity Software Phone App
A person would use the Do Not Disturb feature anytime they would want to minimize interruptions of telephone calls while working on a business project. Another example for using Do Not Disturb is when you are away from the office for an extended period of time.
